Traditional Values. Modern Foodservice.

For more than four decades, Shipleys has grown through hard work, consistency and a commitment to serving kitchens with care. What began with a single fruit salad order prepared in a family kitchen has become a modern foodservice business supporting chefs, caterers and kitchens across the South of England.

Still family-run today, we remain shaped by the same values that started the business — quality ingredients, dependable service and long-standing relationships built on trust.

Our Story

1983

How It Started

While working as a loading boy at Covent Garden Market, Jay was asked by a customer if he could supply fruit salads after their usual supplier had failed to deliver. Jay said yes. He returned home, prepared the order in the family kitchen with his mum and sister, and delivered it later that day — marking the beginning of Shipleys.

1980s – 1990s

Early Growth

As demand grew, the business moved into its first small kitchen in Wembley. After quickly outgrowing the space, operations relocated to a larger site in Southall, allowing Shipleys to expand its prepared produce production and customer base.

1997

Moving to Slough

In 1997, Shipleys moved to its current premises in Slough. The larger site gave the business room to grow, while its position near the M4 provided strong access across London and the South East.

2008

Expanding Into Full Foodservice

In 2008, Shipleys evolved from a prepared fruit and vegetable specialist into a broader foodservice supplier. The range expanded to include fresh produce, dairy, dry goods and frozen essentials — creating the complete foodservice supply we offer today.

Present Day

Reliability and service

Today, Shipleys supplies fresh produce, prepared ingredients and a wider foodservice range to kitchens across the South of England — combining the care of a family business with the infrastructure needed for modern foodservice.
